In the world of art, my favorite mediums are oil paint, digital, and pastels. My work has a pastel look and feel to them and I’m working towards incorporating oil painting style into the work I make currently. my main way of creating these works is making sure my brush economy is equal in showing and blending the work to a perfect balance of digital and pastel. For example the work below showcases the brush strokes while also giving the illusion of blending. One of my personal favorite pieces Drifting in Japan has the most experimentation to it as I was working to find the sweet spot of texture and painting within Photoshop. I almost always use references for the work I make regardless of what that work may be, for example I used only one reference image for Darth Vader from the show Kenobi but for Drifting in Japan I needed a reference for the street, mount Fuji, and a few different angles of the AE86 car from Initial D. Another key element to my art is using only a handful of brushes, I find that I have an unlimited amount of freedom to create when I limit the amount of brushes I use. Not only because it makes the process of working more efficient but also because it helps create a cohesive look to the artwork. I try to be open to the colors used in a piece, an interpretation of the color is a more effective way to capture your audience rather than faithfully following the references.
